Qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1975 and made a fellow of the Institute in 1981.

Derek was previously a partner in a local firm of Chartered Accountants.  In 1982 he became a Practice Accountant in another local law firm and has been with Woolley Bevis Diplock since January 1999.
